What is a BDE course?
BDE is an acronym for Beginner Driver Education course. Only driving schools approved by Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) are allowed to offer the course. Upon completion of the course, one gets certified on the Ministry’s portal.
What are the requirements of a BDE course?
The BDE course has mainly two components: 30 hours of in-class/digital/e-learning course and 10 hours of in-car training. To fulfill the requirements of the course, one must;
  • Have a valid driving Ontario licence
  • Obtain at least 70% marks in each component of the course
  • Complete the whole course within one year after registration
  • What are the benefits of a BDE course?
    With a BDE course, one can have multiple benefits;
  • Learn from a well-conceived and Ministry approved BDE curriculum
  • Be able to take a G2 test only 8 months after G1
  • Avail insurance discounts
  • What are the requirements to start driving lessons?
    You need to be at least 16 years of age with a valid G1, G2 or G license in Ontario to start in-car driving lessons.
    How long are the driving lessons?
    Duration of each lesson is 1 hour. A maximum of 2 hours can, however, be done in a single day.
    How many lessons will I need before I can pass my driving test?
    The number of lessons needed to pass the driving test varies depending on your previous driving experience, if any, and your aptitude. People with driving experience in other countries usually need 3 to 5 lessons, whereas novice drivers generally need 10 to 20 lessons to gain confidence and learn enough skills to pass the driving test.
    I have some specific requirements. Can I get a customized package?
    We offer a range of packages and discounts to suit different needs and budgets. Please check our packages on the website for further details. In case, you do not find a suitable package that addresses your needs, we may create a fully customized solution to address your specific needs.
    Can I choose my instructor?
    Yes, we offer the option to select your instructor based on availability. You can also request a change if needed.
    What should I bring to my driving lesson?
    Bring a valid G1, G2 or G license to the lesson. In absence of a valid license, you will not be able to drive the vehicle.
    What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule a lesson?
    We have a flexible cancellation policy. Please provide at least 24 hours notice to avoid cancellation fees and to reschedule your lesson at a convenient time.
    Do you offer lessons for advanced driving skills?
    Yes, we offer advanced driving lessons, including defensive driving, highway driving, collision avoidance, threshold braking and parking techniques.
    Are your vehicles equipped with dual controls?
    Yes, all our training vehicles are equipped with dual brakes to ensure safety and ease of learning.
    How do you ensure student progress and test preparation?
    The instructor provides personalized feedback and support throughout your learning journey. Mock test is conducted toward the end of 10 lessons in BDE packages. Our specially designed packages include a practice lesson just before the drive test helping the students to pass the drive test with confidence.
    Can I make payments in installments?
    Yes, you can pay in two equal installments if you register with us in any of the Basic Driver Education packages. The first installment will be paid at the time of registration after which you will be able to access and complete the 30 hours of course online. The second installment will be due before the start of your in-car lessons.
    How much insurance discount will I get upon completion of driver’s training?
    Insurance discounts are available to those who register and complete a BDE course within the stipulated timeframe of a year. The extent of insurance discount depends upon the insurance company, your age, residential address, vehicle’s specifications, and other criteria.
    Can I book an early date for my drive test if I register with the school?
    Yes, you can book your G2 drive test only 8 months after your G1 if you register and complete one of our BDE courses. For those looking for an early test date, the school may help in booking early test dates (fees may apply).
    Will the school provide me a certificate of course completion for insurance discount?
    Those completing BDE course are eligible for insurance discounts. However, A certificate issued by any driving school in Ontario is not a valid document for insurance purposes. Usually a Driver Licence History, obtainable at any Service Ontario office (or through their online website) is required by insurance companies as a proof of completion of BDE.
