Frequently Asked Questions & Answers:

Will I get a discount in insurance premium if I purchase this package?
No, this is not a Beginner Driver Education (BDE) course package. Those who enrol and complete a BDE Course might be eligible for a discount in insurance premium. This package will familiarize you with the traffic laws and regulations in Ontario while preparing you for your drive test.
How much insurance discount will I get if I complete a BDE course?
Insurance premiums are determined by insurance companies. Various factors, including the completion of an MTO approved driving course, are considered to determine the premium e.g., your age, gender, marital status, driving experience and record (if any), make, model, safety features, theft risk of your vehicle, expected mileage and commute, type of coverage etc. Please contact your insurance provider for exact details.and record (if any), make, model, safety features, theft risk of your vehicle, expected mileage and commute, type of coverage etc. Please contact your insurance provider for exact details.
What are the requirements of a BDE course?

The BDE course has mainly two components: 30 hours of in-class/digital/e-learning course and 10 hours of in-car training. To fulfill the requirements of the course, one must:

  • Have a valid Ontario driver’s licence
  • Obtain at least 70% marks in each component of the course
  • Complete the whole course within one year after registration
How is this package different from a BDE course package?

In addition to the fewer in-car training hours, although this course contains all that is needed for a BDE course, it is different from a BDE in many respects:

  • There is no mandatory sequence of theory course and in-car training in this package as is required in BDE. You may do both theory and in-car training at the same time.
  • There is no compulsion of attaining a certain percentage score in the online theory part nor in the mock drive test unlike a BDE course.
  • You may do as many driving lessons as you like in a single day unlike BDE wherein one can do a maximum of 2 hours/day of driving lessons.
  • You will not get certified for BDE as this package does not fulfil the requirement for 10 in-car training hours.
If I take this package now and enrol in a BDE course later, will the in-car training that I get in this course be considered for fulfilment of requirements of a BDE course?
No, the ministry requires that 10 hours of in-car training follow the 30 hours of theory component. Since all activity timings are logged and audited by the ministry, the practical in-car training of this package cannot be considered for the fulfilment of BDE course requirements.
Doesn’t the drive test centre provide a car to conduct the drive test?
No, all candidates coming in for the drive test are required to bring the vehicle in ‘working order’ for their respective drive tests.
How is it beneficial to take a drive test in the instructor’s car?
Usually, it’s helpful for new drivers to use the same vehicle for a driving test in which they get the training as it reduces the additional anxiety of a different vehicle’s drive and ‘feel’.
I got my driving licence in my home country a few years back, but I didn’t drive a lot. Will this course be enough for me to learn to drive and get my driver’s licence?
Depending on the aptitude and experience, different people take varying lengths of time to become safe and confident drivers. The number of lessons in this package might not be enough for a novice driver to be able to learn to drive and pass the drive test. It is advisable to consider enrolling in a BDE course package for a higher number of driving lessons at a reasonable cost, while availing the additional benefits associated with a BDE course. If BDE is not possible for you, you may always add more lessons.
I want to get my driver’s licence as early as possible, but I am unable to find a close enough date for the driving test. Can you help me find an early date?
Yes, we can help you find an early date. Please note, however, that the school cannot guarantee availability of a date and drive test centre matching with your exact requirements.
